Kudos to David Gilmour for thinkin' about the workin' man! Davidgilmour.com reports that this will not be a "Blackie" priced limited edition, and it will be available in 2 models-- a relic and a lower price non-aged "NOS" model. This Stratocaster is scheduled to be available on Sept. 22, 2008; coinciding with the release of a new LIVE IN GDANSK album.
Obviously, this is pre-EMG Gilmour sound, with custom wound pickups and a special Duncan in the bridge. So, I guess you could say that the tone will be more on the "dark side" (nyuck! nyuck!).
Go to the above Gilmour link for more details (fender.com has nada yet)!
A very cool blog called Retro to Go got an early jump on this one.
